Year 6 continued their Chemistry module by looking at solvents, solvents, solutions and mixtures. We started the lesson in style creating a coke fountain and looking at how carbon dioxide dissolved in drinks is suddenly released. We then investigated solubility factors when dissoloving different types of sugar.
This term year 6 will be looking at the Woodland Trust Charter for Trees, Woods and People. They will be encouraged each week to participate in activities linked with the charter.
This week they were encourage to help build up the deadwood hedge - to help maintain an obvious boundary for our younger children; to prevent them wandering too far away, and to help reduce the number of visiting dogs off the footpath!
Watch this video to observe the teamwork:
What did the mushroom say to the other mushroom? Your a fun-guy. (Haha! Get it?)
In the morning Beech group strolled down to the stream and Ryan spotted some fungus on a log, once they had finished their trek they trudged back up to stump central, went through the boundries, had a chat and went back out to play. Joseph, Carter and Ryan built a den on a tree that had half fallen over and Alisha and Caty went on a woodland walk to go and find some fungus on trees.
In The afternoon Oak group went to the woods and went through the boundries and went out to play. Jack, Leon, Millie and Demi went on a stroll around the woods and they found some eggy things in some water in a hole in a tree whilst Jake, Sam, Will and Hugo were playing sword fighting in the so-called Battle Arena. After that everybody went back to stump central and they enjoyed having squash and digestive biscuits and had a chat and pick up equipment in the woods and went back to school at the end of the day.
